Nikon D3000 Review

Nikon D3000 Review

Nikon’s “friendliest” DSLR is compact, lightweight, and ready to go wherever and whenever you are—it’s the Nikon D3000. With its 10.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS image sensor and EXPEED 2 image processor, this Nikon D3000 has many features that are user-friendly making it a great entry level DSLR.

The 10.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS Image Sensor develops beautiful images and the resolution quality enables enlargements and prints larger than 20 x 30 inches. The D3000 shoots 3 frames per second allowing you to capture action as it happens, so you can capture almost every moment.

Nikon uses EXPEED 2 image processing to create quality photos. The image processor works with color, contrast, exposure, noise, and speed of recording.

The D3000 has ISO capabilities ranging from 100-1600. These larger ISO options are great for low lighting situations especially when you don’t want to use a flash—to capture an accurate composition without the sharpness of a flash.

A 3-inch LCD monitor makes it easy to navigate the menu options and review shots. It has a 170-degree wide-angle view so you can see the screen from almost any angle.

For usability features, the D3000 has a guide mode which helps learning photographers use advanced features by guiding them through the process. It also has an on board assistance. While taking photos, there is a split second shutter response that practically captures the image when you press the shutter button. Scene Auto Selector chooses the best mode to use to shoot without you having to adjust any of the more complicated features. Similarly, the Scene Recognition System optimizes automatic exposures and captures more vivid colors.

The D3000 also uses an 11-point autofocus, which is fast and accurately captures the subject to create clear and crisp photos. It also uses Active D lighting which restores details in shadows and highlights.

The Nikon D3000 kit is currently available at Amazon for 449.95.
